We replaced all the flooring across the entire main level of this 3-story home. Living room, open areas, all of it - new luxury vinyl plank from wall to wall. The gray wood-tone planks tie the whole space together and give it a much cleaner, more modern feel than what was there before.
Here's something a lot of people overlook - the trim work. Once the floors are down, the base trim and shoe molding are what take the job from "looks pretty good" to "looks like it was always supposed to be this way." We finished everything off with fresh base trim and shoe molding throughout, and it makes a real difference in how clean the edges look along every wall and doorway.
One thing worth paying attention to on a job like this is the transition between the new flooring and the existing tile. That seam has to be handled carefully. A sloppy transition sticks out immediately. We took care to make that line clean and tight so the two surfaces meet properly without an awkward gap or raised edge.
Covering the full main level of a multi-story home is a significant scope of work. Getting the layout right so the planks run consistently through different rooms and around obstacles - stairs, doorways, the kitchen peninsula - takes planning. Rushing that part shows up later. We take the time to do it right from the start.
The end result is a main level that feels fresh and cohesive. New floors change how a space feels to walk through every single day, and pairing that with clean trim work means there are no unfinished edges left behind. That attention to the small stuff is what separates a good flooring job from a great one.
