Not every home improvement needs to be a massive undertaking. Sometimes a small, well-built addition is all it takes to make daily life easier and safer. That's exactly what this front porch build was about.

Here's what we were working with - a back entry with no real landing, just a door opening directly to a brick patio. No platform, no proper steps, nothing to make that transition safe or comfortable. We framed out a clean two-step pressure treated wood platform to fix that. Simple structure, solid framing, built to last.

What we ended up with is a functional entry that actually works for the homeowner. The platform gives you a proper place to land when you step out the door, and the steps bring you down to the patio level cleanly. The handrail on the side adds an extra layer of safety without overcomplicating things. That's good carpentry - nothing excessive, nothing missing.

The material choice matters here too. Pressure treated lumber is the right call for any exterior build. It handles moisture, ground contact, and seasonal weather without breaking down the way untreated wood would. It's a cost-effective option that doesn't cut corners on durability.

Jobs like this are a good reminder that practical builds have real value. Better access, safer entry, improved curb appeal - all without a complicated scope or a big price tag. That's the kind of work we enjoy doing.
